In their first outing since the 2019 season, the Broncs baseball program picked up a pair of wins over the visiting Syracuse Bulldogs Monday, 15-0 and 13-3.

   In the first game, senior Jace Bachman recorded all 12 outs on strikeouts to get the Broncs off to their season.

   The senior faced just 13 batters, surrendering one walk while throwing 57 pitches.

   The Broncs scored two runs in the first inning and three in the second before erupting for eight in the third.

   Matt Morgan and Hunter Davis both had three hits and three RBI.

   Bachman hit a pair of doubles and Morgan one, while Lawson Beymer legged out a drive to left field for an inside-the-park home run.

   The Broncs collected 11 hits and nine walks, while striking out seven times. 

   Allen Martinez had three of the Broncs’ stolen bases.

   They left nine runners on base.

   In game two, the Broncs got 13 runs on eight hits in the 13-3 win.

   Davis was 3 for 4 at the plate, driving in three runs, and Kaden Mings drove in two.

   Two of Davis’ hits were triples, the only extra-base hits for Lakin.

   The Broncs had 12 walks and six stolen bases, and they committed five errors.

   Martinez got the win, going 4-1/3 innings, with six strikeouts, giving up just one hit and one earned run.

   The Broncs (2-0) face Ulysses at home Thursday and then travel to Southwestern Heights on Tuesday and Scott City on Friday.
