4th Grade Enjoys Time Spent at High Plains Retirement Village

by Mrs. Wilkison

April 21, 2008

On Tuesday, April 22nd, the Lakin Fourth Graders went to HPRV to enjoy the “Appreciation Tea.”  The students loved eating the cookies, snack mix, banana bread, and punch! As an extra gift the residents had planted flower seeds in a little pot for each of us. This was to represent the friendships that we have “grown” throughout the school year. They also gave each student a “volunteer reading buddy” button!

We have gone every Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM to read to our HPRV residents. This has been a great experience for all involved. The residents love to see us coming, and we love going to show off our reading skills. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to get to know our “older generation” and to make new friendships. The Fourth Grade would like to thank the staff at HPRV for planning such a nice Appreciation Tea!
