Baseball opens with wins

Baseball destroys Wichita County.

Last Thursday, the Lakin Broncs baseball team played against the Wichita County Indians. Broncs won 15-0 and 11-0 in run-rule games.
In the first game, Lakin scored seven runs in the first inning and six in the second.
The Broncs were credited with just six hits and the Indians committed five errors.
Jaylyn Hash and Angel Hernandez led the team in runs with three each.
With most hits was Dawsen Shalberg with two. Khai Hernandez was the only one on the team to hit a double.
Logan Gugelmeyer had a sacrifice fly.
Hunter Kirby pitched two innings and Shalberg with one. Kirby struck out three and walked one. Shalberg struck out three and walked none.
Game two was much like the first. Lakin jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one, scored two in the second, and finished with four in the fourth.
Leading the team in hits was Hadley Panzer with two. Kirby scored two runs.
Panzer and Johnney Perez both had a double.
Gugelmeyer had another sacrifice fly in this game.
Kirby had three of Lakin’s six steals.
Gugelmeyer pitched three innings, striking out eight in getting the win. Hernandez pitched two innings, striking out six.
The Broncs were at home Monday against Elkhart. They travel to Wichita Independent on Friday.
