Bronc wrestlers compete at state

Friday four wrestlers went off to compete in the state wrestling tournament in Hays, with one representative from each grade comprising the group.
Wrestling in the 113 weight class Bryan Veleta competed in three matches.
In Valeta's first match he wrestled Jason Hecht from Hesston, where he won by pin at 1:26.
Valeta would lose his next two matches, though, and score four team points for Lakin, ending his season with a 14-9 record.
Johnney Perez wrestled at 138 and also wrestled three matches.
Perez lost his first match but came back to wrestle Jake Helten from Garden Plain where he won by pin at 4:26.
Perez would go in to lose his next match and score three team points for Lakin, ending his season 27-9.
Hadley Panzer wrestled the 220 weight class. He lost both of his matches and ended his season 22-9.
Logan Gugelmeyer wrestled thee matches at 285 pounds.
He lost his first round 3-2 when he didn't get the take down points before the final buzzer.
But in consolation, he wrestled Bret Stindt from Belleville-Republic County and won by fall at 0:30.
Gugelmeyer would then go on to lose his next match and score three team points for Lakin, ending his season 29-6.
Perez was a three-time state qualifier. Gugelmeyer qualified last year.

Lakin finished 47th with nine points.
