Four wrestlers qualify for state

Last weekend, four Lakin broncs qualified for state at the WaKeeney regional wrestling tournament.
Bryan Veleta at 113 pounds placed second at regionals, winning by decision in his first two matches and losing by fall in the title match.
Johnney Perez, weighing in at 138 pounds, placed fourth. In the first round he had a bye, and in the quarter final he won by decision. He lost his semifinal Friday by major decision. Saturday in the consolation semifinal he won by decision then lost the third place match by fall.
Hadley Panzer, weighing in at 220, placed fourth at regionals. Panzer won his quarter final and consolation match by decision and lost his semi final by fall and the third place match by major decision.
Logan Gugelmeyer at 285 placed finished fourth, injury defaulting in the final match.
He received a bye, then won by fall in his quarterfinal before being pinned in the semis. He won the consolation semis by decision.
Perez will be wrestling in his third state meet in Hays. Gugelmeyer also qualified last year.
Also competing at regionals was Kayden Christiansen, Juan Banuelos, and Colby Gugelmeyer.
Colby Gugelmeyer and Christiansen both lost consolation semifinal matches.
