Four high school musicians were selected to to Southwest Kansas KMEA district music festival.
Angel Rios was named to the district honor choir.
Tory Ploeger (tenor saxophone) and Sarah White and Dana Gosch (flute) were named to the district honor band.
Students from southwest Kansas, from Class 1A through 6A, auditioned for these select groups.
Each instrumentalist had specific scales and solo pieces to record, which were then judged by area directors.
Choir members did a live audition Nov. 4
All will gather Dec. 2 at Dodge City High School for intensive rehearsals, with a culminating performance starting at 3:15 that day.
All groups will work with a clinician.
Dr. Marion Roberts is currently one of the directors of the Lawrence City Band and Conductor of the DeSoto Brass Band. A former director at KSU, Roberts will work with the high school band.
Julie Yu is co-director of Choral Studies at Kansas State University. She will work with the high school choir.

An all-area orchestra will also perform.
